Fall 2011

Homecoming

Kent State University will celebrate Homecoming on Saturday, Oct.15, 2011. The School of Journalism and Mass Communication will kick-off Homecoming festivities with a reception to honor alumni and students on Friday, Oct.14, and a brunch on Oct.15. PRSSA Kent will again host a raffle at the reception and brunch, fundraising for members to attend National Conference and for other chapter endeavors over the course of the school year.

You can join the Homecoming committee and get involved in the planning and execution of our yearly raffle, which is a great way to build your PR expertise. Contact VP of Fundraising Hallie Pendergast (hpenderg@kent.edu) or Trent Chavez (tchavez1@kent.edu) for more information about this opportunity.

National Conference

This year, PRSSA National Conference will be held in Orlando, Florida at the Renaissance Orlando Hotel at SeaWorld from Oct.14 – 18, 2011. National Conference is a chance for PR students to network with others in the field and watch unique presentations given by a variety of industry professionals.

Members of PRSSA Kent will give a “Cash In On Communication: Reaching Your Fundraising Goal” presentation on the first day of conference, advising attendees on chapter fundraising efforts. We invite all PRSSA members to attend National Conference.

Last Chance for Dues

Have you turned in your PRSSA dues yet? Well, now’s your last chance! Submit $50 by cash or check (made out to PRSSA Kent) to VP of Membership Stephanie Neumann or any PRSSA officer on or before the Darrow Meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Membership lasts for one year, so if you paid dues last semester, you do not have to pay again until spring 2012. If you have any questions, contact sneuman1@kent.edu for more information.
