The Office of Student Media supports nearly 200 students working in eight different media. Five full-time professional employees, in addition to fa
culty advisers, assist students in their award-winning endeavors.
Kent JMC students gain valuable experience and sharpen their marketable skills. Many of the positions are paid, enabling the students to focus on their classes and student media experience. In addition to building resumes, Student Media forges student friendships into lifelong professional contacts.

Artemis brings women's issues to the forefront while striving to be interesting and informative to both male and female readers.
The Daily Kent Stater is an award-winning student-run daily newspaper. The Stater publishes Monday through Friday during the regular fall and spring semesters. During the summer months, The Stater is published weekly on Wednesdays.
The Burr covers the latest in music, entertainment, travel, dining, fashion and sports as well as social, political and environmental issues. Known for its excellent reporting and writing, compelling photography and lively design, The Burr has won nine national awards as best college magazine. Its Web site, www.theburr.com, has won three national awards for best college magazine Web site.
UHURU is a forum of exchange on matters concerning minorities, with emphasis on the Pan-African experience. UHURU won Best Student Magazine in the 2007 Society of Professional Journalists Region Four Awards.
Kent State University's literary publication is a blend of poetry, prose, photography and illustration. Luna Negra is a delightful and inspirational addition to the Student Media mix reaching those most interested in the arts. Submissions are from both students and outside contributions.
Fusion Magazine addresses sexual minority issues within the general
population. The magazine strives to educate and promote awareness in both gay and straight communities, while maintaining an interest to all readers. Fusion won Best Student Magazine in the 2006 Society of Professional Journalists Region Four Awards. The magazine also has an award-winning Web site, http://fusion.kent.edu.
TV2 reaches 7,000 KSU residents and 25,000 Portage County residents on Time Warner Cable channel 16. The station features live news at 6:30 pm Mon-Fri, live and taped programming, talk programs and much more including several KSU sporting events and live election night coverage. TV2 is an affiliate of the Open Student Television Network.
Black Squirrel Radio broadcasts on channels 2, 4 and 6 on the Kent State University
campus television network reaching over 7,000 college students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The station format consists of college rock, local bands and urban. Black Squirrel Radio also broadcasts on channel 16 on the Time Warner Cable Network in most of Portage County and streams live over the Web at http://www.blacksquirrelradio.com.
