A handsome man walks through the door, and your heart starts beating really hard. It feels as if your heart is outside your ribs and you feel so many different emotions all at one time. The mystery man opens his mouth and says, “Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am Justin Clayton, and I will be your new professor for this semester.”

Your smile drops and you start to think. You think about dating your professor. You never thought you would. So you sit back in class and start to daydream.

Papers get passed back and you look down, pick up your paper and notice you have a D. You get a little upset because you know you can’t continue to be a part of the drama department if you receive anything below a C average. You look at your paper, then at your professor and you notice how he is looking at you back. It looks like he is flirting with you.

Some weeks pass and you know that your professor definitely likes you. While your drama teacher is trying to take you out of the upcoming show, you get an idea. You think of asking your professor to raise your grade for the show.

It’s a Friday and you go to the club with your friends and you see him there. He looks tired but you think he looks so cute. He notices you and then you walk over there. Both of you decide to go to place more quiet. So, you both go sit in his car and talk. You realize how much he likes you and think there’s your chance.

You start dating him and your grades are better than ever. You find out he’s dating someone else and decide to break up with him, then you get your test back and see you’re back with a D. You threaten him, and tell him if he doesn’t raise your grade to a B, you would tell everyone. You tell him about the videotape you still had.

Years ago, it would be out of the question to date a teacher. Some people say that its not an “moral” issue; people should be free to (try) dating anyone they please. It just happens that such relationships seem to rarely succeed.

Johnathan Albert, a Kent State graduate student, said it’s a clear violation of immoral failing. He says that even if he wasn’t directly influenced, there still is a line that shouldn’t be crossed. A teacher should be a mature adult and have an open pathway with his/her students. They should have some type of friendship but the student should know to respect the teacher.
