  • PRSSA wins another major award

    JMC's PRSSA chapter has won another national Teahan Award, this one in the University/College Service category. The announcement was made at the national PRSSA conference in San Diego. The award recognizes voluntary projects developed by a PRSSA chapter that directly benefit the chapter's home university, according to adviser, Michele Ewing.

  • DKS, KentNewsNet win national Pacemakers

    JMC student media have won prestigious 2009 Pacemaker awards from the Associated Collegiate Press. Both the Daily Kent Stater and KentNewsNet.com earned awards, making Kent State the only major journalism program to win Pacemakers in both the daily newspaper and online news site categories. Tim Magaw was DKS editor, and Kristine Gill was KNN editor. Carl Schierhorn and Sue Zake were advisers. Read more about the awards

  • Online ethics workshop ponders 'What Values?'

    Well known online journalists joined Poynter ethics faculty for a discussion about core ethical values of online journalism. Speakers were from around the country, both in real time and virtually. For event coverage, go here.

Franklin Hall

Franklin Hall Picture

In 1926, Franklin Hall opened as a modern teacher education building. Eighty-plus years later, it has had a complete overhaul and a new wing added to it. It's now the state-of-the-art home of Kent JMC with cutting edge facilities, including a converged student media newsroom, a high definition broadcast studio and control room, modern video and audio editing suites, and much more.
