College can be complex and confusing. We can help. Regular academic advising will ensure a smooth experience in your academic program and will better prepare you for graduation.
The School of Journalism and Mass Communication Academic Advising Office helps undergraduate students explore JMC majors, evaluate transfer credit, understand curriculum requirements and course scheduling, and prepare graduation requirements.
JMC advising appointments are available online through Web Scheduler. Scheduled appointments are strongly recommended. Walk-in options are available but limited. The JMC Academic Advising Office is in room 328 Franklin Hall. The phone number is 330-672-8293 and the e-mail address is jmcadvising@kent.edu.
As a reminder, if you just have a quick question such getting enrolled in a class, class requirement overrides, scheduling conflicts or if you live far away from the Kent campus, you may call or e-mail our office and ask for an adviser instead of making an advising appointment.
Graduate students should contact Von Whitmore, the Graduate Coordinator, by phone at 330-672-8304 or by e-mail at ewhitmor@kent.edu. You may also contact Sharon Marquis at smarquis@kent.edu with questions about the graduate program.
JMC faculty are available to both undergraduate and graduate students to discuss academic and career goals, and provide information regarding fields of study and internships. Contact any faculty member in your sequence, or if you don't know who to talk to, ask at the JMC Academic Advising Office at 330-672-8293.
