Frances (Fran) Collins has been teaching advertising full-time at KSU for fifteen years, after teaching as an adjunct instructor for eight years, first at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and then at the College of Journalism at the University of South Carolina.

She started her career as a media planner/buyer in an inhouse business-to-business agency, followed by media planning and buying at William Douglas McAdams, New York, the country's first pharmaceutical ad agency. While teaching as an adjunct, she also served as an ad agency media director, both in Syracuse, NY, and Columbia, SC, and, later, as bank marketing director for a 28-office South Carolina bank and its holding company. She has a master's degree in journalism from The Ohio State University.

Fran has taught Principles of Advertising, Media Planning, Copywriting, Advertising Campaigns, Creative Concepts, Advertising History, and Law of Presuasive Media courses in the Advertising Sequence, as well as Information Gathering, Media Writing and Ethics & Issues in Mass Communication, three JMC core-curriculum courses.
